Last spring, Warner Brothers announced that the upcoming tenth season of "Smallville" will also be its last. And while the show will begin its final chapter in the fall, several members of the cast and creative team coming to the San Diego Comic-Con for one final appearance.
Series stars Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman and Justin Hartley will headline the "Smallville" panel on Sunday, July 25 at 10:00a.m. in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center. "Smallville" showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson will also be on the panel, with special guest moderator Geoff Johns; the recently named Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment who has also written two episodes of "Smallville."
For Welling, this will be only his second appearance at Comic-Con, following nearly a decade as Clark Kent. It's also interesting to note Freeman's appearance, as her character, Tess was seemingly killed off in the ninth season finale. Presumably, she will be revived in the new season.
The CW has already indicated that former "Smallville" cast members may return for the tenth season, with John Schneider's appearances already announced for the season premiere and a later episode.
Welling has previously indicated his desire to see Michael Rosenbaum reprise his role as Lex Luthor, despite Rosenbaum's earlier statement that he will not return to the series.
Although there haven't been any announcements yet concerning any new villains for the tenth season, it's widely believed that Darkseid and the New Gods may play a prominent role based on hints dropped during the ninth season by Johns himself.
The season premiere of "Smallville" will air on Friday, September 24.

Comicbookmovies.com reports today that in an interview with indieWIRE's Matt Dentler, Allison (Chloe) confirmed the rumor that Tom Welling is signed on for season 10 of Smallville.
Here's what she had to say:
The latest with "Smallville" is there might be another season after season 9 . Tom has signed for season 9 and for a season 10, so the show will go until season 10 (It Might). I will be completed with my contract next year, and I am looking for new and exciting ways to carry out my character’s exit. I love living in Vancouver, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I love the people, the food, the aesthetic, and the life I have built here. It’s wonderful."
Well all you Smallville lovers, take a big sigh of relief. Looks like there's a good chance this might not be the last season. At least we can hope so.

Mini-Review:
I haven't watched "Smallville" in quite some time, so it was interesting to catch up with the series. After all, I'm a big Superman fan so I should be following this show more than I have.
First off, they should start calling this show "Metropolis" rather than "Smallville." The show is almost entirely set in the big city with Lois and Clark both working at the Daily Planet. The story also hops around the globe quite a bit and extends well beyond the tiny town's borders. The few times they do return to Smallville, it seems a bit forced into the story.
Second, each episode of the show looks more like a theatrical motion picture rather than a TV series episodes. The cinematography, sets, and effects look better than a lot more expensive shows on TV. I was definitely impressed.
I'm also amazed by how many characters from the comics have crept into the TV show. A few of them have appeared before, but they seem a lot more prominent now. We get numerous cameos by Green Arrow, Flash, Black Canary, and Aquaman. We also see Zatanna, Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Martian Manhunter, and others. Brainiac and General Zod's wife come into play, too. But if that's not enough to blow your mind, they tackle Doomsday in this season, too. They took some liberties with the character, but they seem justified. Doomsday is not simply an enormous, mindless beast that kills Superman. He's more of an anti-Superman that has a human side. By day he's an EMT, at night a creature that looks fairly close to what's in the comic books. I think it was definitely a challenge to translate, but they pulled it off.
This season also marks the departure of Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor. In his place is Cassidy Freeman as Tess Mercer, Lex's replacement. While you can't blame him for wanting to go and do other things, he's an incredibly tough act to follow.
This season also did something extremely odd in the season finale with Jimmy Olsen. I can't discuss it here without getting into spoilers, but it's probably the biggest departure from the Superman mythos they've done to date. Watch the show and you'll see what I mean.
If you're like me and you're a comic fan who hasn't watched "Smallville" in a while, this season may be where you want to jump back on board. The show is still continuing on strong and is more tied to the DC comics than ever.
The bonus features are a tad light this time around. There's a featurette on the development of Doomsday and another on Allison Mack's turn in the directing chair. You'll also find a couple of commentaries and deleted scenes.

After falling out of favor with my Tivo for a few seasons, "Smallville" made a rip snorting comeback last season with its Chloe-heavy Doomsday-plot. And now that the Superman-series will be moving to Fridays this fall, no longer going head-to-head with "Survivor," I am super excited to season nine takes us.
EW.com's Michael Ausiello is giving fans their first look today at what the Zod-centric season will look like. It's embedded below and fantastic! All I can say is, the words "Kneel before Zod" are said in the promo, so I'm a happy camper!

Okay Clark, don’t tease me like Lana Lang on Prom Night …
It’s Hollywood Economics 101: As a TV series gets longer in the tooth, the main cast, producers and other below the line big-wigs get bigger and bigger paychecks.
If the show is very popular and is able to command top dollar for its advertising time, everybody is happy.
If the show in question is on a smaller network … say, the CW, and the lead actor has been in place for going on nine seasons, there’s probably not a lot of extra bread to spread.
Usually, what happens is the show itself becomes “smaller”. Secondary cast members get less and less screen time, or get hit by a bus or something, and the series morphs into a “Show in a Bottle,” where episodes are shot on the cheap using existing sets and very few guest stars. A classic example of this happened during the third and final season of the original Star Trek series. A majority of those episodes took place either onboard the ship or with minimalist settings. Instead of becoming the Incredible Shrinking Show, the 9th season of Smallville looks like it's getting an even bigger canvas. Bigger villains, bigger action, bigger promise.
But I’ve been taken to the prom before by Smallville. The promise of Doomsday and the epic battle that had to happen kept me interested … and ultimately under-whelmed … last season.
Smallville seems to be getting a second wind, however, if the 9th season trailer released today is any indicator. Clark accepts his destiny, begins training to be “super” and adapts the iconic \S/ logo as his symbol.
Will someone ape Jackie Cooper’s Perry White-ism “What does the “S” stand for? Sidney? Sheldon?”
Will Lois ascribe the name “Superman” to the Red-Blue Blur?
Will Clark find the middle ground between his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing?
It was just a matter of weeks ago that I stated in an earlier article that I wanted “more super in my Superman” from Smallville. I may be getting my wish. Will we finally be treated to the “Promise of the Premise,” as the late, great screenwriting guru Blake Snyder used to say?
The potential is there for greatness, but that same potential has been there since 2001 and the premiere of Smallville.
Smallville's 9th season premiers on Friday September 25th on the CW Network.
I'm asking a question that all "Smallville" fans might be asking forDo you think there will be a "Smallville" video game? Lately people have been asking them the questions that need to be answered, except a question about the development of a game. Now that those questions are answered, will they do all the seasons of "Smallville" in a video game or just season 8 and 9?

Playable characters like Clark, Justice League, Lana; Legion of Superheroes, Jor-El, and others. Mabye, they'll have a evil campaign and evil guys like Doomsday, Zod, Lex Luthor, Forah in Lois, Zod, Metallo, Oliver trying to kill Lex ,and others. They could have costumes like the farm red and blue clothing, the new Super Suit in season 9, and the cop suit in episode "Bulletproof."
I found these concepts for a possible fan-made game.

August 4, 2009 - 1990s guilty pleasure Melrose Place is returning this fall via a revival on the CW and today the producers and cast spoke to the press about the series. The series is run by Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer, both former Smallville writer/producers. Said Slavkin, "We've been on Smallville for seven seasons. That show means a great deal to us, but this was an opportunity we couldn't pass up."
The series features two original cast members, Laura Leighton ("Sydney Andrews") and Thomas Calabro ("Michael Mancini"), back in prominent roles. Leighton said, "they incorporated my character in a very unique way. I had no expectation going in. Playing Sydney the first time was so much fun. There was no downside to playing her again." Calabro said he was "interested in the ideas that they had bringing the show forward," and was, "Very excited to learn [Michael] had even more money than before and even more power. If he continues to be an evildoer that bodes well."
Slavkin said they saw the new Melrose Place as "A tribute to the old show, but we really want to create our own show." As for reaching a new generation with the show, Slavkin noted the original series was a "huge international franchise," and pointed out that it only ended ten years ago, meaning there were plenty of young fans they could reclaim – "If you're 25, you were 15 when Melrose Place was on."
Among the new cast members -- which include Stephanie Jacobsen ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) and Michael Rady (Swingtown) -- Ashlee Simpson-Wentz said of her new-in-town character, "The really innocent girl is probably not so innocent. She's got a dark side." The character played by Katie Cassidy (Supernatural / Harper's Island) meanwhile is seen seducing men and women alike in the pilot, and Slavkin said, "We call her tri-sexual, which is she'll try anything."
Big Spoilers for the pilot of the new Melrose Place follow.- The CWKatie Cassidy as Melrose Place's "tri-sexual"
It's impossible to discuss portions of what was asked at the panel without going into the events of the pilot, and the big plot point that occurs just a few minutes in... (one last Spoiler Warning!)
...which is the discovery of Sydney's floating corpse in the famous Melrose Place pool. This sets up an underlying murder mystery element, as all the other leads become suspects. Meanwhile, Leighton will continue to appear in the series via flashbacks, with Slavkin saying he and Swimmer are "Huge fans of noir," and even listing Sunset Blvd as an inspiration. Said Slavkin, "It's a very interesting idea with Sydney. We tell her story in the past and how it affects the characters. She's involved in all the characters in very deep ways."
Swimmer noted, "The murder won't be milked out for an entire season, but it will go over several episodes." He also added that even when Sydney's murder is solved, "mystery, suspense and intrigue are very much part of the overall tone of the show. They'll still be plenty of mystery and suspense and crime elements and stuff like that that will continue to be through the series." The producers also noted there was "no reason" Sydney couldn't appear in more flashbacks after her murder is solved.
As for other original Melrose cast members returning, Slavkin noted, "Josie Bissett is shooting as we speak," noting it was pretty natural to have Sydney's sister Jane come back, given the set up. Going forward, he said that all decisions on bringing previous cast members back go hand in hand with asking, "Does it feel organic? Does it not feel contrived?" He also noted that, "Jo Reynolds will be back with a vengeance," referring to Daphne Zuniga's character and that "Last night I talked to Grant Show ("Jake Hanson") and I was very excited. So stuff's brewing."- The CWWelcome back, Sydney and Michael! Laura Leighton and Thomas Calabro return to Melrose Place
As for the original's most talked about star, Slavkin said, "The door is always open for Heather Locklear. We're huge fans of hers and have a great way to have her come into the show."

Superman small-screen fans have reason to breathe an super-cold sigh of relief as executives of the CW, home of Warner Bros. comic book television series Smallville, have announced that they feel the series has enough potential creative energy to last beyond its upcoming ninth season. Says CW President Dawn Ostroff, "I hope it's not the last season...the show still has a lot of life yet to it."
Smallville, which began broadcasting in 2001 on the CW's predecessor channel the WB, chronicles the early adventures of Clark Kent (Tom Welling), beginning in high school and currently set in Kent's early days as a budding reporter for the Daily Planet. The series' title refers to the future Superman's home town in Kansas, where most of the series' earlier adventures occured (they have since largely moved to the hero's more familiar home of Metropolis but there is as of yet no title change in sight). The long-running television series also focused on the friend-turn-foe relationship between Clark Kent and Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum), first forged when the former saved the future villain's life during a motor accident. Clark's early romance with his high school sweetheart Lana Lang (Kristen Kreuk). In recent years, both the Luthor and Lana characters have left as series regulars, as well as Clark's parents Jonathon and Martha Kent (John Schneider and Annette O'toole), however other well-known Super-friends have appeared in later seasons, such as Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen (Erica Durance and Aaron Ashmore). A non-comic book core character created especially for the series is Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack), an aspiring reporter, cousin to Lois Lane, and unfailingly loyal friend to Clark. The Chloe character has proved popular enough that an attempt was made in the mid-2000s to integrate her into the mainstream Superman comics, but as of yet the character has not appeared although fans, including this Examiner, live in hope.
For Smallville's upcoming ninth season, the CW will move the series to air on Friday nights, as an anchor for a new set of programming. Says Dawn Ostroff, "We felt the best way to open up Friday night was with a big establishied hit like Smallville." Ostroff also hints that Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor, who left the program's regular cast at the close of the seventh season two years ago, may eventually make a return appearance. She also voices his approval of Smallville''s former Thursday sister series Supernatural (starring Jared Padalecki and Smallville alumi Jensen Ackles), and hopes that series will continue past its upcoming fifth season as well.
Smallville will return to television on September 25th, 2009, and feature Clark Kent edging towards his destiny as Superman while battling the renwed threat of his fellow Kryptonian nemesis, Zod.

VERY COOL!!! Can't wait for Season 9
Take a first look at a picture of a very Iron Man looking Brian Austin Green as Metallo in SMALLVILLE, that TV Guide recently released.
Brian Austin Green's character starts out as John Corben, a new Daily Planet reporter, who becomes Metallo when an accident leaves him with a heart made of kryptonite. Now that could be a problem for Clark, couldn't it?!
Smallville returns for its ninth season on September 25, 2009.

Supes to get some Wonder-power helpers
And so continues the parade of side characters from the DC universe onto the Smallville series continues this season. Already scheduled to appear in the flesh for season 9 are General Zod, Metallo and now....wait for it...
....The Wonder Twins. Yep, that's right, the spunky brother sister combo that would touch power rings and call out stuff like "Wonder Twin powers ACTIVATE!!" are going to be popping up in Metropolis to help out confused super hero Clark Kent.
Instead of Zan and Jayna though, the characters will be depicted as Twyla, a "Pixie-punk teen" and her brother Tanner, a "hot skater dude". Twyla will be played by Allison Scagliotti while Tanner is being played by David Gallagher. The CW has yet to say whether or not the freaky little monkey Gleek will be joining them or not.
The Wonder Twins are set to show up in the season's fifth episode, being called 'Idol'. Smallville returns on Fridays this fall beginning September 25th.

the industry’s only large-scale, all-girls action sports competition.
This unique event features more than 100 of the top female action
sports athletes in a competition series designed to promote and

Supergirl Jam September 6 - Venice Beach, CA
“The Supergirl Jam serves as a platform for the embodiment

inspire young women everywhere with their skill, intelligence,
independence and overall passion.”
Surfing will take center stage on August 15 & 16 as the Supergirl Pro Junior contest unfolds in Oceanside, CA. Held in conjunction with the 25th Annual Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club Contest and Beach Festival, the Supergirl Pro Junior will identify and celebrate the emerging stars in women’s surfing when the top 20-and-under female surfers take to the waves in their quest to stand atop the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) North America Pro Junior Series ranks and claim their share of the $15,000 Supergirl Pro Junior prize purse. Sanctioned as a Grade-4 event on the ASP North America Pro Junior Series, the contest is expected to attract the top young female surfers including defending champion Coco Ho (Oahu, HI), Courtney Conlogue (Santa Ana, CA), Carissa Moore (Honolulu, HI), Alana Blanchard (Hanalei, Kauai), Bethany Hamilton (Kauai, HI) and Sage Erickson (Ojai, CA).

Some of the top skaters expected to compete include Vanessa Torres (Anaheim, CA), Elissa Steamer (Fort Myers, FL) and Amy Caron (Huntington Beach, CA). The Supergirl Jam will also feature a demo by some of the world’s best inline skaters competing for a $2,000 prize for best trick.

Top female snowboarders are set to compete including Supergirl Ambassador Chanelle Sladics (Newport Beach, CA) and Raewyn Reid (Calgary, Alberta).
To support the amateur skateboarding community, Woodward West, North America’s leading action sports camp, will host the Supergirl Pro-Am Jam Skateboard Street competition on August 19. The top female amateur skater will advance into the pro skateboarding contest at the Supergirl Jam in Venice Beach two weeks later over Labor Day weekend.
“Supporting the progression of females in action sports and infusing the industry with new talent is the basis for both the Supergirl Jam and Woodward West, so this partnership was a natural extension for both of us,” said Gary Ream, owner of Camp Woodward.
“ASA Entertainment creates action sports events all around the world and we are very excited to bring the Supergirl Jam back again as an even more entertaining competition series,” said ASA Entertainment CEO Rick Bratman, producer of the Supergirl Jam. “With great partners like the ASP and Woodward, we are able to further our goal of inspiring girls. We are really proud to help promote these amazing athletes and be a part of the incredible progression in female action sports.”

A couple of interesting tidbits coming from the Currently, Superman is a hot property over at Warner And as everyone knows by now, Bryan Singer is no longer involved in the Superman franchise. Hence, the billion dollar question is...who is?
Here's where things get fuzzy, because I am also hearing the Wachowski's may come in to produce with James McTeigue as the actual director. |
Today I just went over to http://www.comic-con.org/cci/ the official Comic Con website to see what the schedule was for the event and on the front page I noticed that it's almost sold out! If you are planning to go and haven't purchased your tickets its still not to late for some days. Popular days are already sold out and you might have to head out to eBay for those tickets.

Here's an article I found recently on the web regarding "10 reasons why they should never make another Superman Movie."
Take a read at the article and COMMENT on your opinion.
After most of us experienced a near fatal stroke watching the latest rendition of Superman,
rumblings have been heard of another incarnation that is sure to cause
a brain hemorrhage in a large part of the population. Superman has
become the laughing stock of some and is being met by total
indifference by others. Here’s why producers and Hollywood gurus should
never make another Superman movie again. Well maybe not never, but not
for the next 50 years or so.
The Actor
Of all people, the bumbling casting picked Brandon Routh to play Superman. Why, because they happen to look alike? The comic book Christopher Reeves appearance for Superman died when Smallville became entrenched in the mind of the movie culture. When people think of Superman today, they think Tom Welling, not Brandon Routh. It doesn’t matter that Welling doesn’t have the classic Superman look. What matters is the perception of the public. The public wants Welling and anyone else should be the second choice.
Villains
The knock against Superman has always been that the villains he faces are flat in personality, uninteresting and totally suck. If we compare Superman to Batman, the latter’s villains are almost as popular as the hero and like the hero, have etched themselves in mainstream culture. Most people have heard of The Joker, Catwoman and The Penguin. How many people have heard of even one Superman villain? (Lex Luther doesn’t count because he’s not really a true villain and is probably the most inept criminal in the history of crime) Superman needs either some stiff competition or early retirement. (If you can call fighting crime since 1933 early.)
Passing On the Wrong Girl
With all due respect to Lois Lane, anybody, superhero or not) who passes on Lana Lang for the annoying reporter doesn’t deserve their own movie. Ya ok, Kristin Kreuk may have taken Lana Lang up a notch or two in the comic world, but who cares?

This is in regards to those out there that thought SUPERMAN RETURNS was a bomb at the box office.
I did some diggin up and I found that the reported budget on Superman Returns was $270 million. Domestically in the U.S. only it made $200,081,192 (US ONLY) Over seas it made $191,000,000 (FOREIGN) which brings the total combined world wide figures to a whopping $391,081,192 in theaters!!!
This $391,081,192 world wide gross doesn't include comics that generated buzz from the film or toys, clothes, DVD's, and other Superman related properties.
So how was Superman Returns a bomb? Don't know why Mark Millar (See article below on: SUPERMAN REBOOT) thinks Superman needs a Reboot? Just because his movie WANTED (Starring Angelina Jolie) didn't bomb that badly over WALL-E. He has no right to trash talk Singer's Superman Returns. It's Not Easy Being Super, Man
or What Do You Do With the Man of Tomorrow When Tomorrow Comes Today?
Happy 70th Birthday, Superman!
Superman is 70? Seriously? He looks pretty good for a guy his age. No longer the freshman reporter from Smallville, Kansas, Clark Kent is now a seasoned Metropolitan; there is nothing that, either as Superman or Clark Kent, he hasn't seen before or done twice already, only backwards and with heels on.
This is a problem.
Writing
Superman has to be the hardest gig in comics because everything that
you can do with the character has already been done before. Hell,
writer Steven T. Seagle even wrote a whole damn graphic novel about how
difficult it was to tackle Superman (It's a Bird)...and then he
went on to write Superman. Ironically enough, his run is best
remembered more for the graphic novel than by anything that actually
happened in the book during his time there. But still, it simply goes
to show how tough writing the Man of Steel really is. I mean, what do
you get somebody who already has everything? What can you possibly do
with someone who has done it all? What do you do with the "Man of
Tomorrow" when tomorrow comes today?
Apparently writers in the mid 80s were already having this existential crisis before, complaining that Superman had become way too powerful, which lead to a "Crisis" (in the form of the 1985 mega-crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths) that resulted in a much less super Superman. Problem solved, right? Wrong.
Now to be fair, I'm a guy in my late 20s and I'm not that experienced with all the Golden and Silver Age Superman comics. I hear some are good and some are crap, but honestly who has that kind of time to go through it all? I came of age in the late 80s and early 90s, so the Superman I'm most familiar with is Post-Crisis Supes. Anyways, wasn't Crisis on Infinite Earths suppose to wipe out all those Golden and Silver Age Superman stories and then reboot the title for a brand new audience, telling the same stories only different (sort of like a pre-Ultimate version of Superman, only fully in the continuity)? What? Now my head is starting to hurt.
So why is it so tough to write Superman?

More Rumors that Kristen Bell to play Supergirl...
Source: Scramble Network
Here’s your latest round the clock coverage of the whole
Kristen-Bell-as-Supergirl rumor, one of the hottest on the net right
now!
First up, iF Magazine has an interview with SMALLVILLE co-creator Alfred Gough where he talks all about the character and her role on the show. The biggest reveal: She will NOT wear the costume. Sucks, I know!
He also lets us know that HELEN SLATER, who played Supergirl in the 80s movie, will be making a guest appearance this season.
Michael Ausiello doesn’t think Kristen Bell would be interested in the part of Supergirl because its a supporting role, given her growing celebrity. But he then notes that The CW plans (big news here)… for SUPERGIRL TO GET HER OWN SHOW!
That’s right! Apparently, the plan within the CW/Smallville offices is to introduce Kara Zor-El on Smallville and gauge audience reaction, then roll out an original Supergirl series. That would be amazing!
Finally, Michael has word that another former Superman, Dean Cain, will be making an appearance on the show this season, but NOT as the new editor of The Daily Planet– which was the hot rumor once upon a time!
UGO's picks for the new Supergirl WOW, I just read this article from Serieslive.com a French website that interviews the creators of Smallville and it's possible 8th Season finale. Read below and remember this comes from a french website so the translation might be a little rough.
Festival of the film Jules Verne Adventures: Meet with the creators of Smallville
SeriesLive was likely to meet the two creators of the series Smallville, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar at the time of the festival Jules Verne organized in Paris. Of return in the true town of Paris Alfred Gough and Miles Millar had already had the occasion to come to Paris for the festival Jules Verne. Unfortunately, they had not been able to turn in the French capital when Lana had made there a hard passage the fourth season. “We had to turn these episodes to Vancouver in the street which made French possible. ” Indeed, the result was only far from plausible, in particular with the appearance of a multitude of French flags and schoolboys with uniforms left straight of the years 1930. Miles Milar entrusted to us: “When I arrived to Paris, I carried out the difference that there was between the series and reality and I am said that French went me crucifier. ”
Curators at the Smithsonian put the kybosh on any plans to wheel a part of Christopher Reeve into their museum. Who does he think he is? Steven Hawking?
Deborah Morosini, the sister of Reeve's late wife, Dana, told Howard Stern's Sirius radio show she had graciously offered the beloved actor's chair to the Smithsonian so his gallant struggle to survive against the odds will be remembered for generations. But the deal fell through when the organization said thanks, but no thanks.
Katherine Ott, a curator at the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C., which is run by the Smithsonian, confirmed to The NY Post that officials wanted much more than the wheelchair. She said the museum wants an entire collection of Reeve's possessions - but once the family learned of the demand, they cut off the contract.
“Lex is getting darker and lets all his colors show! All hell will break loose!”
Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) has confirmed that next season will his last, and most likely the show’s last season as well. Here’s what else he had to say:
Shmuel Reuven (SR): So how’s the shooting going on Smallville?
Michael Rosenbaum (MR): We’re finishing up; Monday’s my last day, and then I’m going to Paris for a while, but it’s really great, I have to say. It’s a great year, the ratings are consistently high. It’s great when you’re on a show that has that longevity, but it’s even better when a show’s ratings are so high; our show’s ratings are just as high as the first couple seasons. We’re creating more and more fans, and I know we’re going next year. That will be my final year, and then I can hopefully delve into more comedies. For me, it’s great work and I think the show is getting intense as we go; Lex is inevitably getting darker, and next year is when he lets all his colors show.
SR: You’re finishing up the season finale on Monday?
MR: Yeah, it’s my last day on the finale; we’re finishing it.
SR: Is anything going to happen with Lex on in the upcoming remaining episodes of this season?

Over at JewReview.net there's an interview with Michael Rosenbaum who plays Lex Luthor on CW's Smallville and he confirms that next season (which is Season 7) will be the last one for the series.
Rosenbaum said:
"Yeah, we’re finishing up our sixth year and next year is the last year."
Sounds like confirmation to me. Of course I reported that Smallville would only go seven seasons a year and a half ago. :-)

"New Smallville Episodes Airing This Week
April 15th, 2007 by Johnson
Hey everyone!
It seems that the old reruns are finally going to stop and that they are going to air new episodes this week. This weeks episode is about Chloe and Clark breaking into the Asylum to break her mom out because apparently her mom possess the power to control kryptonite infected people. Lex finds out and uses a drug to wake Chloe’s mom and threatens to kill Chloe if she doesn’t do as he wishes.
Here is a trailer of this week’s episode:
It looks like this weeks episode is going to be pretty good and it will start to reveal more of Lex’s hidden secrets. It also seems that the story will be moving along faster now and Season 6 might come to an end soon."

John Glover

![]() Q&A - John Glover - with Tony Award |
Whether you know John Glover from his Tony-winning dual performance as John and James Jeckyll in Love! Valour! Compassion!,
the string of villainous movie roles that led Pauline Kael to dub him
"the prime rotter of the '80s" or his current run as Lex Luthor's
devious dad, Lionel, in TV's Smallville, chances are he's not the first person you'd think of to play Man in Chair in The Drowsy Chaperone.
But Glover insists that his new role is a perfect fit—and a
lighthearted conversation with the 62-year-old actor helps make the
case that he's ready to show Broadway audiences his funny side. Of
course, in a stage career spanning 35-plus years, Glover has played all
kinds of parts, from a would-be bomber in the original production of
John Guare's House of Blue Leaves to a British diplomat in the first American production of David Hare's Plenty to a man in love with a farm animal in Edward Albee's The Goat three summers ago in Philadelphia. Since signing on at Smallville, Glover has made a point to spend every hiatus on stage, notably in the 2005 off-Broadway production of Jon Robin Baitz's The Paris Letter and last summer's premiere production of Terrence McNally's Some Men in Philadelphia. Speaking from Vancouver, where he was wrapping up the sixth season of Smallville before joining Drowsy on April 17, Glover declared, "I think everyone who sees The Drowsy Chaperone thinks they are the Man in Chair. I'm just the lucky son of a bitch who gets to do it now."

"Smallville" To Pull a Marissa?
Sweeps months (November, February and May) have become very dangerous on broadcast TV. This May it won't be any different as The CW gets ready to off a beloved face on its veteran series "Smallville."
The supposedly shocking storyline development was of course "leaked" to the media as E! Online reported that a fan favorite will be killed off in the sixth season finale of "Smallville" entitled "Phantom," which is scheduled to air Thursday, May 17.

Hey everyone just found some very juicy news on Smallville's season finale, read below what eOnline.com Kristin Veitch has to say:
Attention Smallville fans: This news might make you feel like you have butterflies made out of Kryptonite in your stomach, so read at your own risk.
Inside sources tell me exclusively that one of the main four castmembers—Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack or Kristin Kreuk—will be killed off before the season ends.
Although all of these castmembers are under contract for one more season (they initially signed seven-year deals), producers have decided to have one of their characters meet an untimely end, in a shocking plot twist.
Naming exactly who is going six feet under would ruin the viewer experience (and probably prevent me from cozying up to any CW cuties at future C-Dub events) so I'll simply tell you this regarding the soon-to-be-deceased character's identity: It is someone who is most definitely a fan favorite. And I think you're gonna freak."
Wow Someone's gonna die?? I wonder who they might be. What are your thoughts on this? My guess it might be Chloe. I hope I'm wrong. Comment below to let us know what you might be thinking and we will read off your comments on the next podcast.
Here's something interesting, it seems like the writers and creators of Smallville are now writing the 3rd Mummy movie starring Brandon Fraser. Read below, this article comes to us from SyFyportal.com

Apr-13-2007
Brendan Fraser will return in "The Mummy 3," although his co-star, Rachel Weisz will not be back, according to Variety.
The previous films, "The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns," have brought in more than $830 million and have helped turn Fraser into a star recognized around the world.
However, since Weisz won as Oscar in 2006 for her role in "The Constant Gardener," she gave birth to a son last summer and has decided not to return to the "Mummy" movie franchise.
Production will start in late summer this year under the helm of Rob Cohen. It will be set in China and introduce a new bad guy, played by Jet Li. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creators of "Smallville," are writing the script.
"The Mummy 3" is expected to be released in the summer of 2008."
