The tenth and final season of Smallville has been pretty damned good so far. However, there's one thing missing. Lex Luthor. Or more specifically, Michael Rosenbaum's portrayal of Lex Luthor. Here are the details about his potential return (as well as a couple of other cast members) courtesy of "Watch With Kristin" over at E! Online.
Any word on Michael Rosenbaum returning to Smallville?
"I wish! But not as much as the producers and Tom Welling wish. That's what I'm hearing from sources—that Smallville producers have asked him to come back for the final season, but so far, Michael has not signed on. I'm told Tom himself also reached out to ask (beg?) him, but again, so far, no dice. Who's got a plane that can skywrite? Let's get creative, people! In other spoilery (and related!) news I'm told that Tess is a ******. Any guesses on which letters fill in those six blanks?"
Will Kristin Kreuk or Annette O'Toole return to Smallville?
"I'm told there's nothing in the works right now on Kristin but Annette is likely to return. Tip: Don't forget to put gas in that skywriting plane before you take it out to skywrite all your Smallville casting pleas."
Some pretty interesting info there, but more intriguing is what exactly does ****** stand for? Luthor, perhaps!? Be sure to share your thoughts about that and the rest of this news in the usual place!

Last spring, Warner Brothers announced that the upcoming tenth season of "Smallville" will also be its last. And while the show will begin its final chapter in the fall, several members of the cast and creative team coming to the San Diego Comic-Con for one final appearance.
Series stars Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman and Justin Hartley will headline the "Smallville" panel on Sunday, July 25 at 10:00a.m. in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center. "Smallville" showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson will also be on the panel, with special guest moderator Geoff Johns; the recently named Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment who has also written two episodes of "Smallville."
For Welling, this will be only his second appearance at Comic-Con, following nearly a decade as Clark Kent. It's also interesting to note Freeman's appearance, as her character, Tess was seemingly killed off in the ninth season finale. Presumably, she will be revived in the new season.
The CW has already indicated that former "Smallville" cast members may return for the tenth season, with John Schneider's appearances already announced for the season premiere and a later episode.
Welling has previously indicated his desire to see Michael Rosenbaum reprise his role as Lex Luthor, despite Rosenbaum's earlier statement that he will not return to the series.
Although there haven't been any announcements yet concerning any new villains for the tenth season, it's widely believed that Darkseid and the New Gods may play a prominent role based on hints dropped during the ninth season by Johns himself.
The season premiere of "Smallville" will air on Friday, September 24.

Comicbookmovies.com reports today that in an interview with indieWIRE's Matt Dentler, Allison (Chloe) confirmed the rumor that Tom Welling is signed on for season 10 of Smallville.
Here's what she had to say:
The latest with "Smallville" is there might be another season after season 9 . Tom has signed for season 9 and for a season 10, so the show will go until season 10 (It Might). I will be completed with my contract next year, and I am looking for new and exciting ways to carry out my character’s exit. I love living in Vancouver, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I love the people, the food, the aesthetic, and the life I have built here. It’s wonderful."
Well all you Smallville lovers, take a big sigh of relief. Looks like there's a good chance this might not be the last season. At least we can hope so.
Check out where Tom Welling is making against other leading men in drama series. Remember he gets paid $175,000 an episode with 23 episodes a season. ($4,025,000.00) Now you think, why would he walk away from a nice payday. Hopefully he continues to do Smallville and enjoy that nice paycheck for a Season 10!!

The following is the official description of the series:
"There's a new reporter at the Daily Planet: Clark Kent, who shares a workspace with Lois Lane. There's a new hero in Metropolis, too. No one knows who he is. But Jimmy Olsen was on the scene of one of the do-gooder's exploits, and he snapped a blurred photo of the hero in superspeed action - a hero everyone now calls the Red-Blue Blur.
Red-jacketed, blue-shirted Clark Kent draws closer to his Superman destiny in the exciting 22-episode, 4-disc Season 8 set brimming with high-definition excitement. Another Kryptonian destiny also takes shape. Davis Bloome begins to realize he is Doomsday. His mission on Earth: kill Clark Kent. So many new events (will Jimmy and Chloe's marriage last?), so many new faces (Tess Mercer, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy among them!), so many state-of-the-art effects - so don't miss a single thrill-packed moment! Mini-Review:
I haven't watched "Smallville" in quite some time, so it was interesting to catch up with the series. After all, I'm a big Superman fan so I should be following this show more than I have.
First off, they should start calling this show "Metropolis" rather than "Smallville." The show is almost entirely set in the big city with Lois and Clark both working at the Daily Planet. The story also hops around the globe quite a bit and extends well beyond the tiny town's borders. The few times they do return to Smallville, it seems a bit forced into the story.
Second, each episode of the show looks more like a theatrical motion picture rather than a TV series episodes. The cinematography, sets, and effects look better than a lot more expensive shows on TV. I was definitely impressed.
I'm also amazed by how many characters from the comics have crept into the TV show. A few of them have appeared before, but they seem a lot more prominent now. We get numerous cameos by Green Arrow, Flash, Black Canary, and Aquaman. We also see Zatanna, Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Martian Manhunter, and others. Brainiac and General Zod's wife come into play, too. But if that's not enough to blow your mind, they tackle Doomsday in this season, too. They took some liberties with the character, but they seem justified. Doomsday is not simply an enormous, mindless beast that kills Superman. He's more of an anti-Superman that has a human side. By day he's an EMT, at night a creature that looks fairly close to what's in the comic books. I think it was definitely a challenge to translate, but they pulled it off.
This season also marks the departure of Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor. In his place is Cassidy Freeman as Tess Mercer, Lex's replacement. While you can't blame him for wanting to go and do other things, he's an incredibly tough act to follow.
This season also did something extremely odd in the season finale with Jimmy Olsen. I can't discuss it here without getting into spoilers, but it's probably the biggest departure from the Superman mythos they've done to date. Watch the show and you'll see what I mean.
If you're like me and you're a comic fan who hasn't watched "Smallville" in a while, this season may be where you want to jump back on board. The show is still continuing on strong and is more tied to the DC comics than ever.
The bonus features are a tad light this time around. There's a featurette on the development of Doomsday and another on Allison Mack's turn in the directing chair. You'll also find a couple of commentaries and deleted scenes.

This season on the CW's Smallville,
Clark will go to work at the "Daily Planet," where he'll bump desks
with Lois Lane. The predestined set-up understandably has some fans
already lobbying for a lip-lock.
Well, there's one coming.
Sources
whisper to me that in this season's fifth episode, titled "Committed,"
Clark and Lois will be "forced" to make like lovebirds as they
investigate some strange goings-on involving a crazy guy and a Moment of Truth-esque
lie detector "game." It is in the course of this bit of harrowing,
shoe-leather reporting that the "Daily" duo find themselves engaged in
a smooch.
How real is their clinch? You'll have to wait and see and fiercely debate decide for yourselves. After all, let's not forget that these two have
macked on each other before — namely, once when Lo mistook CK for the
Green Arrow, and again when she was under the influence of that drugged
lipstick.
But perhaps the third time is the charm?
Oh,
and the "flying" reference in my headline? That simply sounded good.
There's no word yet on when the longstanding "No Flights" policy will
be rendered obsolete by the series' new regime. — Matt Mitovich
Here's some cool retro video of Tom Welling and his wife at the Golden Globes.
It’s finally here. The poster to the Season 7 premiere of Smallville.
So what do you think of the bumpersticker “The new girl… Friend or foe?”
I think they are talking about Supergirl, and how she’s going to cause a bit of a problem for Clark and others in Smallville.
Apart from that, it’s a cool poster.
Here's a clip I liked a lot. It showed how Lois and Clark got their little spark. Also shows how Chloe realizes she not a front runner for Clark.

It's the ep that Smallville fans have been waiting for - 'Progeny,' with Wonder Woman
Lynda Carter guest-starring as Chloe's mother. We finally get some
insight not only to Moira Sullivan, who (supposedly) was in a mental
institution prior to tonight, but Chloe as well. Should make for an
unforgettable episode.
For more details on Lynda's experience on the Smallville set and her feelings on stepping back into the world of superheroes, check out this new interview on TVGuide.com. The classy Ms. Carter had complementary things to say about the Smallville cast and specifically Allison Mack.
Can Chloe save her troubled mother? Or will Lex prevail? Find out tonight at 8/7c!
